After there’ll be an exhibition down Bercy way… cool?? NZ – Cardrona will host the Relentless Cardrona Games next week and it’s full of  world-class athletes. The invitation-only event includes freestyle skiing, snowboarding, motorbikes (FMX) and snowmobiling and will be held under floodlights at night on Thursday and Friday of this week.  A series of Big Air competitions — ski and snowboard, FMX and snowmobile — will take place in 20-minute slots between 6pm and 8pm… entrance freeJ NZ – the largest 12 hour Mountain Bike Event in the world – the Jamis Day Night Thriller will be held at Taupo’s Spa Park on the 13th September. This a “not to be missed” event on the mountain-biking calendar. Individuals or teams of two/three or four/five compete over an exciting 8km course for 12 hours between 10.30am and 10.30pm or 6 hours between 10.30am and 4.30pm. The course is designed to suit riders of all ability levels and includes fast open parkland, awesome downhills, challenging single tracks, pine needle covered forest tracks and spectacular scenery alongside the mighty Waikato River. WAKEBOARDING ON THE RISE  – wakeboarding is considered one of the fastest-growing water sports in the world and South Florida is one of the best spots for wakeboarding, with riders, teams and manufacturing companies making the area home. In fact, wakeboarding is becoming so more mainstream that the big surfing companies are putting money into wakeboarding. Competitive wakeboarding also has grown – there are numerous international and national tournaments and tours around the world sponsored by the World Wakeboarding Association. Many of the world’s best surfers are exploring the wonders of the Eastern Cape while the Billabong Pro remains on standby waiting for Supertubes at Jeffreys Bay to again produce the waves for which it is renowned. The spectacular surfing action of Thursday and Friday saw Rounds 1 and 2 of the event completed in what has been referred to as the best surf in the past two years on the ASP World Tour. The small waves currently on offer and the prospect of much better conditions later in the week has prompted the organisers to utilise the event’s 11 day waiting period that extends until Sunday 20 July – 2 more days of competition are needed to wrap up the Billabong Pro. Christian Surfers UK, in partnership with Creation Fest, will be hosting a couple of new exciting surf projects over the weekend of 1-3 August. The first is the “Big Move” surf challenge, which is a maximum 32 person, surf contest to be held at the low tide break at Coombesgate, just north of Woolacombe. This will be a knock out competition and a race against the tide to ensure the event is over before the sea pushes in too far. The winners will be presented with their prizes at the main stage at the “Creationfest” free music and skate festival, being held 2 miles away at the top of Woolacombe Hill. On the Friday evening, there will be the European movie premiere of “Walking on Water”, where Luke & Tyler, two kids, are taken around the world in hope they will be forever changed. Along the way they meet up with three-time world champion surfer Tom Curren, teen shark attack survivor Bethany Hamilton, top professional surfers C.J. and Damien Hobgood, and many others. Join Luke and Tyler as they travel to Hawaii, Peru, Australia, Indonesia, South Africa, and France – in this beautiful and inspiring film, the world becomes their classroom.
