RIP CURL’S SOMEWHERE…THE MOVIE – THE PREMIERE

As you entered the building, a tequila bar greeted you with margaritas & shots, while the DJ cranked the tunes. The Mexican themed foyer also boasted a selection of appetizers from The Search including Mango Chicken Tostadas, Beef Taquitos and Spicy Empenadas. In the Iceland room guests stood around candle-lit tables, while a slideshow of images took you through Adam Wickwire’s epic trip where he surfed the icy waters that were virtually untouched. At the center was an Indonesian themed bar complemented with authentic décor and cozy cocktail tables. This was the popular retreat by far. On the outskirts of everything was a Hawaiian themed lounge complete with palm tree coolers for the Bud Light and Guava BBQ Meatballs to snack on. At the back of it all was a stylish gallery depicting images of the various trips on The Search that created Somewhere…The Movie. There was also a section giving tribute to the editors along with a backdrop for photo ops. After a couple hours of experiencing the making of Somewhere…The Movie, guests were bused down to the Lido Theatre in Newport Beach where an eager crowd waiting to get into the premiere greeted them. Again, the drinks flowed as anticipation for the movie was building amongst the crowd. After a few words from Rip Curl Marketing Director, Dylan Slater, the movie began and the crowd watched in awe. Rip Curl’s Dylan Slater had this to say about the success of the premiere: "We had to do it big. This movie featuring 11 editors, 10 locations, and amazing surfing is something we’re really proud of as a company." (Source: Event’s PR)
