COSMETICS – a young Parisian, Blandine Chemouni, has come up with an original range of cosmetics targeted to the world of sport, especially extreme sports. The TECARE products have been created and the packaging designed in consultation with professional riders. The range includes sun protection creams, lip protectors for extreme weather conditions, and oils for massaging tired and bruised limbs. The use of these potions is quickly being taken up by male riders as well as the girls.{mosimage}  GERMANY – here’s a pretty unique event: people on ropes running down the side of the Park Inn, Berlin’s tallest hotel. Like true Germans, many visitors in Alexanderplatz barely bat an eye. From 39 floors up, thrill-seekers pay 59 Euros (almost $100) to do "house running," as it’s called. Wearing booties to protect the hotel windows, they walk down the side of the building… wonder if they take the dog as well?SCOTLAND – the Mountain Bike World Cup passes at Fort William the weekend of 6-8 June. Downhill riders go against the clock on a preset course that may be partly man-made, like the one at Fort William, or just naturally fiendish. The route will take in several big jumps and drops, with rocks, trees and other obstacles in the way. The challenge for the rider is to navigate around these hazards at as high a speed as is humanly possible. In Scotland this is often made more difficult by the conditions: wind, rain and mud. Falls are inevitable and, despite the body armour, injuries are an occupational hazard… be ready for the Best riders, the Best courses, the Best crowds. Best be there. UK – Liverpool: the annual urban youth festival Hub took place a couple of weekends ago, attracting the biggest attendance in its six-year history. Around 23,000 people visited Otterspool Park to watch and participate in activities including extreme sports demonstrations and a stage of unsigned local bands. The event is a mix of urban art, music and extreme sports including skateboarding, BMX, in-line skating, and body popping. The Animal Relentless Bike Tour, the UK’s number one tour of its kind, brought British mountain biking legend and world champion Martyn Ashton and jump riders Blake Thomas Samson and Sam Reynolds from DMR Bikes to Hub for demonstrations over both days of the event.
