The comp will be held outside on a beautiful grassy hill overlooking the village with a back drop of stunning Colorado “hills”. The walls were built by Pyramide USA and are 75 feet wide with a range of 17.3 to 18.3 feet tall and will cover all the angles from dead vert to 14.5 feet overhanging. These walls are pretty standard World Cup profiles but will definitely test the angle skill of every competitor. Asana Packworks is providing the padding to keep everybody safe and comfy. Setters This rare (and hopefully repeated) World Cup on American soil is a chance for US setters to show their craft to a world audience. And there was no shortage of qualified and willing setters to fill the crew. But who did get the call up? IFSC certified Chief Setter Kynan Waggoner, who just returned from opening lines for the Hall Austria WC, will be leading a small but very capable crew. Coming in from Korea will be IFSC setter, Kim DongHyun. For a hint at what Kim might be bringing to Vail check out this video from the 2006 ESPN X-Games and this incredible problem from a prior ACC. Also slinging wrenches will be hit man-setter Jamie Emerson, who is with out a doubt the strongest US setter and a veteran of high profile comps. Filling out the WC crew will be Mike Moelter, who will draw on his past PCA experiences and the many Nationals under his belt. Also happening the same weekend on the same wall will be a youth and citizens comp. Chief Setter Mike Helt called in National setters and work-horses, Jeremy Hardin and Kyle Mrohs to set up problems for the mortals. Grips And what will the setters be bolting to the wall? Several grip makers have stepped up to support the comp and make sure that the competitors have quality in every hand. Climb-It, So Ill, Contact, E-Grips, Project Holds, Rock Candy, Halo Holds, Nicros, StoneAge, ETCH and Crater will be represented during the event. So stay tuned for the latest from Vail as Routesetter.com will be at the event with a full comp report. (Source: routesetter.com)
