A great opportunity for all you enthusiastic skaters to leave home for 5 days and 4 nights and dive head first into the UK skate scene. Check out www.skatecamp.co.uk for all details… don’t miss out.   SKYDIVING – is a pretty safe extreme sports although, from 2 million jumps a year, there are about 35 fatalities. Mistakes in judgement and procedure cause the high majority of the accidents. But there are health concerns that can determine whether you should skydive: you need to weigh less than 250 pounds (110 kgs) and not have a heart condition; someone who has had fainting spells, blackouts or respiratory problems should probably not be jumping… so beware!   Surfing Here’s a surfing first: at next week’s Drug Aware Pro Margaret River presented by O’Neill, a former ASP World Tour surfer and his child compete in the same event. Dave Macaulay, of Western Australia, Winner of the Margaret River contest in 1989, and a former two-time World No. 3, lines up with his daughter Laura, 16, in a field of 250 professional surfers taking part in the World Qualifying Series (WQS) event at Surfers Point, Margaret River, 7-13 April. The Quiksilver Pro Durban presented by Virgin Mobile in association with Resolution, 13-20 April, will see a worthwhile new division, the Komunity Project Future Stars. Eight junior surfers selected from Surfing South Africa’s transformation and development programme will be flown and accommodated in Durban, at the expense of Komunity Project, and will be taking part in an exclusive surf-off with the chance to win a wildcard to the Quiksilver Pro Junior main event and also a one-year sponsorship from Komunity Project. Komunity Project is a new surf accessories company endorsed by eight times ASP World Champion Kelly Slater – a percentage of sales are put into a fund set up by Kelly to be used for good causes within the global surf community – thus the name “Komunity Project.”
