OLYMPICS – The Olympic form of BMX is called supercross and ratches up the traditional form of the sport. The track in Beijing features a two-story drop at the starting hill, and riders reach speeds of 40 mph at the bottom. Along the dirt track are banked turns, jumps that can launch riders 40 feet high and rhythm sections. Up to eight riders at a time go through several heats, or motos, on bikes with 20-inch wheels. Races are one-lap sprints, rarely lasting more than 40 seconds. WAKEBOARD – The World Wakeboard Association announced the 5th annual WWA Wakeboard World Series. Starting in early July the 2008 Series will include five events being Camarines Sur, Philippines; Detroit, US; Toronto Islands, Ontario, Canada; Tokyo, Japan; & Oklahoma City, US.  US – Board Up Miami and Nike Swim Miami forward together. The PLA will kick off the 2008 series at the World Famous K55 surf break in Baja, California.  The event, to be held on May 30th- June 1st, will be a one star ASP Professional Men’s sanctioned event. Other PLA divisions will include Professional Women, and Open Amateur. Current ASP World Junior Champion, 17-year-old Sally Fitzgibbons is seen as a big favourite in next week’s Women’s Drug Aware Pro Margaret River, presented by O’Neill, at Surfers Point, Margaret River. The teenage sensation from Gerroa, New South Wales is the clear leader on the ASP World Qualifying Series (WQS), after winning the Arrive alive Central Coast Pro in March. That event saw Fitzgibbons in dramatic form, not losing a heat throughout the contest – it was her second WQS win of the year, giving her a massive ratings lead.
